Zillo Group Jeremy Wacksman was promoted from chief operating officer to chief executive, according to an announcement Wednesday.
The company announced the news less than an hour before its second-quarter 2024 earnings call with investors and analysts. In addition to being named CEO, Waxman also joined the company’s board of directors.
Wacksman will succeed Zillow co-founder Rich Barton as CEO. Barton will remain on the company’s board of directors and has been named co-executive chairman of the board, alongside Zillow co-founder and current executive chairman Lloyd Frink.
“Zillow’s business is firing on all cylinders and performing well in a challenging real estate macro environment. We have built and integrated products, completed strategic acquisitions, strengthened our agent partner network, and significantly grown our mortgage and rental business,” Barton said in a statement.

Wacksman is a long-time member of the Zillow team, having joined the Zillow team in 2009 Microsoft. At Zillow, he held a variety of roles, including head of product, chief marketing officer and, for the past three years, chief operating officer.
As COO, Wacksman helped lead Zillow’s “housing super app” strategy and led the company’s Follow up with boss and show time.
