Zumper announced in a May 30 blog post that its ChatGPT-enabled apartment search tool is now widely available.
While it was previously only available to paid subscribers of ChatGPT, the tool is now available to anyone with an OpenAI account.
The tool allows users to view listings on Zumper by talking to the ChatGPT integration and telling it the apartment type and apartment features they want to view. For example, a user can type “Show me a 3-bedroom apartment with a backyard in Brooklyn, NY for under $5,000” and any number of listings matching that description will be displayed.
Users can then ask further questions about each listing and filter the results to show only apartments within certain smaller geographic areas or only apartments with certain features, such as hardwood floors or central air conditioning.
If the user wishes, they can get more specific information by asking for information such as the nearest park or school, and asking the chatbot to weigh the pros and cons of each apartment.
Zumper is the latest listing portal to launch a ChatGPT integration tool. Redfin and Zillow both launched similar plugins around the same time in May 2023; both allow users to use conversational language to describe the types of apartment features they are looking for.
It’s Zumper’s latest embrace of artificial intelligence. The portal launched PowerLeads AI in 2021, which analyzes tenant behavior to predict the likelihood of a specific tenant signing a lease for a specific apartment.
“Zumper is committed to integrating artificial intelligence and machine learning technology with the goal of revolutionizing the property rental process, making it more personal, efficient and user-friendly than ever before,” the company said in its blog post.
